Pastor Reed Best was born on March 13, 1958, in Lamoni, Iowa, and is the youngest of four boys. His father was a minister in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Renamed the Community of Christ in 2001). In 1987, Pastor Best was effectually called to saving faith and spent several years visiting various denominations until he visited Grace Presbyterian Church, PCA, where he met Dr. D. Randall Talbot, an ordained minister in the Reformed Presbyterian Church General Assembly (RPCGA). On July 31, 1990, Rev. Talbot was commissioned by Westminster Presbytery (RPCGA) to start a mission work in Ocala, Florida, called Covenant Presbyterian Church. Pastor Best became one of the founding members. Eventually, he was called to become a Church Governot (Ruling Elder). In 1995 he received his Bachelor of Divinity from Whitefield Theological Seminary. That same year, he was ordained as a Gospel Minister of the RPCGA and called to be the Associate Pastor at Covenant Presbyterian Church. In 1996, he received a Master of Sacred Theology. In 1997, he started a mission work called the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Ocala (RPCO). Pastor Best served on the Book of Church Order (BCO) committee for the RPCGA. He presently serves as the Stated Clerk of Westminster Presbytery and the Moderator of the General Assembly of the RPCGA. In 2014, he was honored with an honorary Doctor of Divinity for service in the field of Administration and Leadership from Whitefield Theological Seminary.
